Refund policy

Thank you for shopping at Habby And Lace. We are committed to offering quality products and service. This Refund & Returns Policy outlines the conditions under which returns, exchanges, and refunds may be considered.

Please read carefully before completing your purchase.

Important First Step

All returns, exchanges, or refund requests must be initiated via email before any items are sent back.

Please contact us at info@habbyandlace.co.za with your order number and a detailed explanation of your request.

Returns or refunds sent without prior communication will not be processed.

1. Non-Returnable Items

Due to the nature of our products, the following items are not eligible for return or refund:

  • Cut or Measured Fabrics: Any items sold per meter or cut to order, including all dress fabrics, curtaining, and upholstery.
  • Haberdashery Items: Final sale on items such as zips, needles, threads, glues, fabric paints, dyes, etc.
  • Dress Patterns & Custom Orders: These are final sale and cannot be returned or refunded once confirmed and/or paid for.

Please note: These exclusions are in line with the South African Consumer Protection Act and are due to hygiene, customisation, or product integrity concerns.

2. General Return Conditions

You may return eligible items only if:

  • You contacted us within 7 days of purchase or delivery.
  • The item is unused, in original sealed packaging, and in the same condition as sold.
  • You provide the original proof of purchase (e.g. receipt or order confirmation).

3. Faulty or Defective Products

In accordance with the Consumer Protection Act (CPA), if a product is defective or not as described, you are entitled to a repair, replacement, or refund within 6 months of purchase.

This does not apply to damage caused by misuse, normal wear and tear, or failure to follow care instructions.

Please notify us as soon as possible if you believe you received a faulty item.

4. Online Orders – Right to Cancel

As per the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act (ECTA), for online purchases, customers may cancel their order within 7 days of receiving the goods, unless the product is:

  • Custom-made or altered
  • A product excluded due to hygiene or specific handling requirements
  • Perishable or sensitive (e.g. fabric cut to order)

This cooling-off period does not override our non-returnable item policy where applicable.

5. Return Process & Shipping

Customers are responsible for the return courier costs.

You may:

  • Arrange your own courier, or
  • Request us to book collection (fees will be communicated and deducted from any refund).
  • If you use your own courier, Habby And Lace is not liable for damage or loss during return transit.

6. Management Discretion

Habby And Lace reserves the right to assess and make a final decision regarding return eligibility based on the circumstances and compliance with this policy. All such decisions are final.
